+You can do extensive searches on this site. You won’t be searching the entire web, and you won’t just be searching usa.gov. When you enter a word or phrase in the search box at the top of the site’s opening page you will search not just that site but also all government sites. the search will include all the federal, local and state websites that are available to the public. When you click on any of the search results you should see urls that end in .gov or .mil or others that specify that you are on a particular state or agency’s site. That’s a good way to know that you are on a genuine government site of some sort. You can also look for information by searching lots of specific topics which the site offers. You can even call an information specialist for more help on weekdays.
**Chat**:  If you are confused, can’t find the specific information you need or simply don’t understand what something means, there is actually a live Chat feature on USA.gov. We have not tried it but if you click the Chat button you will go to a page that tells you whether chat is currently available and lets you click a small red box to Start a Chat. The hours listed for the Chat service are weekdays (Mon-Fri) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time. The service is not available on federal holidays. There is a button toward the top of the page that says “Espanol” and you can click that to chat in Spanish. And if you don’t like Chat they also provide a phone number you can call instead. **Chat**:  If you are confused, can’t find the specific information you need or simply don’t understand what something means, there is actually a live Chat feature on USA.gov.
