Participating colleges include Tufts University outside Boston, Princeton University, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill,Duke University, and Florida State University. There may be others, these were the ones mentioned in a recent article in the Wall Street Journal about such “gap year programs.” . At Duke a pair of “”venture philanthropists” will donate $500,000 each year for 3 years to fund this program, and then they will provide $10 million for an ongoingt endowment of the program.
