Here’s nice new — or pretty recent —job perk: personal loans! The Wall Street Journal reported late last year that it is a growing trend among some employers. Some act on their own to offer low cost loans to current employees and a growing number are working with credit unions or non-profit organizations  to make the loans. The employee has to have been on the job for at least a year. The employer vouches for the employee and takes loan payments out of the employee’s paychecks automatically. So financial lenders are motivated to charge lower interest rates and better terms. Sounds like a win-win to us. Ask your employer if they offer such a benefit or maybe they would consider it.  +Did you know that you might be able to increase your chances of getting approved for a personal loan if you do your shopping at discount stores? This is jus tone of the characteristics that the Wall Street Journal reports that at least one lending company is using to assist potential borrowers. Oddly enough, applicants who report higher incomes will lower their chances of getting a loan. You could also risk a lower chance if you write out the full name of your employer. This is not true of all lenders but it’s certainly interesting to know.
