+If you are a woman business owner working with silver jewelry, there is actually a grant just for you!  - And as of this writing in September of 2018 they are currently accepting applications. The Halstead Grant is designed to support up and coming artists working in silver jewelry. The winner, announced annually, receives a cash grant of $7500 as well as another $1000 to pay for supplies. They also receive feedback from judges to help their art and their business. The top ten contenders also receive smaller prizes of cash and individual feedback. You can download an application from the Halstead website.  Be prepared to do some serious thinking to complete the application. It will be necessary to have thought out your business strategy and plans to to be able to communicate it well.
Have you heard of the “Idea Cafe”?  This is a site where small business owners (or wanna be owners!) can use forums to discuss ideas, share tips and more. In addition, they give out some small grants. Though they’re not specifically for women a large majority of the grants do go to female entrepreneurs. The awards are for $1000 and are offered periodically. Anyone who has a small business or wants to start one can apply. You can learn more on their website and also see write-ups of past grant winners. Those stories can be inspiring and educational for others hoping to win a grant.
